Delicious Belgian Waffles Recipe

My perfect original Belgian Waffles recipe guarantees a decadent breakfast experience with their crisp golden outside, delicate, fluffy inside, and extra-deep pockets for maple syrup.  

– 2¼ cups all-purpose flour (270g) – 4 teaspoons baking powder – ¼ cup sugar (50g) – ¾ teaspoon salt – 2 cups milk (480ml) – ½ cup oil (vegetable or canola) (120ml) – 2 large eggs separated – 2 teaspoons vanilla extract


Heat your waffle iron. Darker settings yield crispier waffles. Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.  

Step 1


Mix milk, oil, egg yolks, and vanilla in a medium basin. Mix egg whites on high speed in a separate dish until firm peaks form.  

Step 2

Stir the milk mixture into the flour mixture until almost incorporated, then fold in the egg whites until streak-free.  

Step 3

Put 1/3 cup of batter per waffle in the hot iron. Try different quantities depending on your waffle maker's size and settings. Cook per manufacturer's instructions.

Serve hot with butter, syrup, berries, whipped cream, or your favourite toppings.
