Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe

Make this quick chocolate chip-studded banana bread using overripe bananas! It's juicy and delicate and comes together quickly!

– 1¾ cups all-purpose flour (210g) – 1 teaspoon baking powder – ½ teaspoon baking soda – 1 teaspoon salt – ¾ cup sugar (150g) – ½ cup unsalted butter room temperature (113g) – 2 large egg – 1 teaspoon vanilla (5ml) – 3 very ripe bananas mashed (1 1/2 cups) – 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (180g)

Preheat oven to 350F (180C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with baking spray. Mix flour, baking powder, soda, and salt in a medium bowl.

Step 1

Beat the sugar and butter on medium-high speed in a large bowl or stand mixer with the paddle attachment for 3 minutes until frothy and pale.

Step 2

Beat in the vanilla extract after mixing in the eggs one at a time and scraping the bowl. Mix in mashed bananas. (I fork-mash bananas so they're thick.)

Step 3

Mix dry ingredients until almost mixed on low with the mixer.

Step 4

Put a few chocolate chips aside and mix the remainder into the batter. Pour the batter into the loaf pan and top with the saved chocolate chips.

Step 5

Bake 60 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
